New Mexican traditional cookies. |
Ingredients |
6 C flour |
¼ t salt |
3 t baking powder |
1 C shortening |
1½ C sugar |
2 t anise seeds |
2 eggs |
¼ C milk |
¼ C sugar |
1 T cinnamon |
Procedure |
In medium bowl, sift flour with baking powder and salt. |
In large bowl, cream shortening and sugar with anise until fluffy, beat in eggs one at a time. |
Mix in flour and milk until well blended. |
Turn dough out on a floured board and roll to ¼ to ½ inch thickness. Cut into shapes and dust with sugar and cinnamon. |
Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes until brown. Rack cool. Store in air tight container. |
