Sugar Cookies |

Ingredients |
1 C granulated sugar |
½ t salt |
¾ C butter, softened |
1 egg |
1 t lemon rind, finely grated |
1 t vanilla |
2½ C flour |
1 t baking powder |
colored sugar |
Procedure |
In a large bowl, cream butter, sugar and salt. Add egg, lemon, vanilla and beat until light and fluffy. |
In a medium bowl, sift together flour and baking powder. Add gradually to creamed mixture. |
On a floured board, roll to 1/8 inch thick, cut and decorate. |
Bake at 350°F for 9-10 minutes. Rack cool. Store in air tight container. |
